Performing Acts

background of artists

NAS born September 14, 1973, better known by his stage name Nas, formerly Nasty Nas, is an American rapper. Son of jazz musician Olu Dara, Nas is well known for his 1994 debut album Illmatic. This album established Nas as one of hip-hop's most profound lyricists, introducing his signature poetic style. Raised in the notorious Queensbridge housing projects in New York City, he represents a continuation of a hip-hop tradition in Queensbridge that has spanned through early hip-hop, including the Juice Crew, Mobb Deep, and MC Shan.

HELLOGOODBYE is a power pop band that was formed in Huntington Beach, California in 2001 by singer Forrest Kline. They are signed to Drive-Thru Records and released their first full-length album, Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! in 2006, in addition to their previously released EP Hellogoodbye and DVD OMG HGB DVD ROTFL.

SAOSIN Saosin is a post-hardcore band from Newport Beach, California. They formed during the summer of 2003 and partly consists of former members of the band Open Hand. Former singer Anthony Green had initially suggested the name Saosin for the band. The name is derived from the Chinese phrase 'xiao xin' which literally translated to English would be 'small heart.'

BLUE SCHOLARS Blue Scholars are a hip hop duo based in Seattle, Washington. The duo was created in 2002 while the members, Geologic and Sabzi, were a part of The SHOW (Student Hip Hop Organization of Washington) at the University of Washington (Seattle). The group consists of one DJ, Sabzi (Saba Mohajerjasbi) and one MC, Geologic (George Quibuyen). The name "Blue Scholars" is a play on the term "blue collar," which is an idiom for workers who often earn meager hourly wages for manual labor.

Out Of State as the name implies, refers not only to the geographic locations of where the members of this band are from, but also to their diverse musical tastes. Being part of the 1% of out of state kids and listening to all different types of music has helped them create a unique sound that is too fast to call rock, not fast enough to call punk, and just too damn uppity and wild to call grunge.
